In 2010, Logan Havens and his wife, Sarah, and their three children had the opportunity to move to the small farm where Logan grew up. The 80-acre farm is located in the hilly, wooded lands of Blue Mounds, WI, just miles away from Cave of the Mounds.
He appreciated all the experiences he had as a child. He knew what farm life is like—he helped with the animals, did chores, and fixed fences, among others. Because of this, Logan thought that farm was the perfect place to raise his children and give them the same opportunity to have that agricultural experience.
OPENING THE DOORS TO FARM LIFE
"Kids don't get chance to actually hold a baby chick, get in the pen and see a baby pig up close, feel the soft fur of a rabbit, see that milk actually does come out of a goat or cow, or watch a sheep shearing demonstration – depending on the time of year at Havens Petting Farm they have that chance.”
—Logan Havens
After a few short months of being on the farm, Logan and Sarah realized that they wanted to share the agriculture experience with those who otherwise wouldn’t have that chance.
